CSS Animation

What are the benefits to using CSS animations?

CSS is a style sheet language used for laying out the visual presentation of any digital content. It is written in a markup language such as HTML. CSS is a cornerstone technology of the internet, often used alongside HTML and JavaScript.

Thanks to the increasing popularity of CSS, and its added support for animation styles and special effects, the gateway for web-based animation is now wide open. Savvy digital advertisers are recognizing this opportunity and using it to leverage their digital assets and set their advertising campaigns apart from the crowd.

You may be surprised to find that the possibilities introduced by this technology make it the perfect cherry on top of your advertising campaigns. CSS banners are a really fun way to add a little extra impact to your banner ads without slowing down web pages or interrupting the user experience.

Animated CSS technology is widely compatible across multiple browsers and operating systems, and it allows the production of extremely fluid and lightweight animations. You’ve probably even seen CSS animation in action and not even known it! Sometimes it can involve catchy content such as animated banners, but often it’s can place a focus on adding subtle movements that add visual style that set your banner apart from its static counterparts without looking too distracting.

CSS3 builds upon the existing web design standards and raises the bar a little by making it possible to move around elements on the page. There is no need to install new software or embrace new technologies; this is simply an evolution of the most popular coding languages already being used in the creation of most modern web ads and content.

CSS does not exist in a vacuum! If you are interested in creating great banners using CSS, you’ll want to look into the other tools in our banner toolbox:

What kind of animation effects can be done in CSS?

All kinds of animations can theoretically be programmed in CSS style sheets, but the major strength of this technology is its seamless integration into HTML banners. This means you can add floating elements that don’t interfere with the background colour on a page, or you can make your cartoon mascot wave to your clients when they hover the mouse, or you can add a little sparkle or animated gradients to your ad units.

The versatility and potential of animated CSS is incredible, and the best web developers are quickly tapping into its potential to create appealing digital banners that look fresh, modern, and professional.
