What is Javascript and how is it used in banner ads?

In short, JavaScript allows for any complexity or movement on a webpage. If the web is based on the standard technology of HTML5, with its style dictated by CSS style sheets, then JavaScript is the final layer of our ‘internet cake’ controlling all other animated or interactive assets on the page. Any website with elements that function more than staying static is probably using a hefty amount of JavaScript. And the same goes for banner ads!

JavaScript takes charge of any assets in banner ads that move, animate, are interactive, animated, or have any other type of non-static function. JavaScript is also a major player behind pulling in information or various feeds for our dynamic banner campaigns.

So basically, JavaScript is 99% of 99% of our banners!

JavaScript is only one component that we use to create some seriously scintillating ads. To get the expertly animated ads we’re famous for, it takes a solid foundation of HTML5 and CSS as well!

Why use Javascript instead of Google Web Designer or an ad building platform?

What a great question! And we’ve definitely got an answer for you. Firstly, banner ads built with JavaScript, CSS, and HTML5 are much more lightweight than those built with an ad builder. This is because ad builders generate their code from a computer system which may save time at the start, but you’ll also be sacrificing precious file size. Often, these automatically generated codes hold much more coding than is actually needed, which can weigh down the units. By contrast, hand-coded units have only the code that is required for that exact unit and certain animation.

JavaScript also allows you to use and serve you ad as you please! Often times, creating your banner ads with certain building tools can limit where you can serve those ads or how you serve them. With JavaScript, your banner ads are as versatile and utilitarian as the internet itself!
